ELEVATING ARTISTS BEYOND GEOGRAPHY

Why did we start borderless curation?

01

Borderless Curation was established in response to the urgent need for greater support for artists working in challenging environments.

02

In many parts of the world — particularly in conflict-affected or politically fragile contexts — artists face structural, social, and economic barriers that restrict their ability to create, exhibit, and share their work beyond local boundaries.

03

Borderless Curation seeks to bridge this gap by offering artists ethical representation, professional support, and meaningful access to international cultural platforms.

Who Are We?

Borderless Curation was founded in March 2026 by Elif Sipahioglu, a former humanitarian worker who has lived, worked, and travelled extensively across Africa, Asia, and Europe.

During these experiences, she encountered many talented artists whose work often lacked access to international platforms andprofessional networks. These encounters inspired the creation of Borderless Curation — a platform dedicated to supporting underrepresented artists and providing their work with the global visibility it deserves.

Based in Istanbul, Elif frequently travels to discover and engage with artists, cultural practitioners, and art audiences worldwide, building connections that transcend geographic and structural barriers. Borderless Curation is run by a fully female team.

Two additional members of our team are Çevriye and Müzeyyen — affectionately known as Muzo — both rescued stray cats who bring warmth and daily inspiration to our work.

Our Executive Assistant, [Name], plays a key role in ensuring that our projects and collaborations move from concept to reality.

Ali Omar is an Iraqi artist whose portraits capture the resilience and dignity of individuals shaped by conflict and displacement. His expressive use of colour and form bears witness to lives lived at the margins of history — bringing them to the centre of the canvas.

Alaa Al-Hassoun is a Syrian artist whose work confronts displacement, memory, and identity. Through layered figurative compositions and mixed media, she translates the weight of forced migration into visceral, emotionally charged imagery that bridges personal testimony and universal human experience.
